MSI Boasts 320 MHz Frequency Support For WiFi-7: Compares Its X870 Lineup Against ASUS & Gigabyte 1

MSI says that all of its X870 motherboards support 320 MHz frequency for WiFi 7 connectivity, unlike ASUS and Gigabyte motherboards.

MSI claims ''True WiFi 7" support on next-gen X870/X870E motherboards, boasting its supremacy against its rivals

Several motherboard makers have revealed their X870 and X870E motherboards recently and as we know from their specifications, they got a noticeable upgrade in connectivity over X670 and X670E motherboards. There is still some difference from board to board based on their vendors, which MSI has taken as a marketing strategy.

The X870 and X870E motherboards feature WiFi 7 for wireless connectivity, which has an increased bandwidth and bigger data rate compared to WiFi 6/6E on the X670 and X670E motherboards. While most X870/X870E motherboards feature WiFi 7 out of the box, MSI says that it is the sole motherboard manufacturer that provides 'True WiFi 7' on all of its X870 motherboards.

As reported by Uniko's Hardware, MSI has prepared a slide comparing its motherboards against ASUS and Gigabyte X870/X870E motherboards. The slide states "WE DON'T JUST SAY BUT WE DELIVER TRUE WIFI 7", adding "UNLIKE OTHERS, ALL MSI X870 MOTHERBOARDS OFFER 320 MHZ 5.8G TRUE WIFI 7 SUPPORT".

For context, three motherboards from ASUS and Gigabyte are listed in the slide. The TUF Gaming X870-Plus WiFi, Pro X870-P WiFi, and ROG Strix X870-A Gaming WiFi from the ASUS lineup, and the X870E AORUS Elite WiFI 7, X870E Gaming X WiFi 7, X870 Eagle WiFi 7 from Gigabyte are displayed with their connectivity specs.

All of them feature WiFi 7 with a 160MHz bandwidth, which is the same bandwidth found on the WiFi 6. On MSI X870/X870E motherboards, the WiFi 7 features a 320 MHz bandwidth, which adds support for up to 5.8 GBps of internet speed, which is several times higher than what one can achieve from the 160MHz channel.

WiFi 7 has been an active marketing feature for modern computer hardware for most manufacturers and it looks like MSI is trying to stand out among the crowd. Meanwhile, it should be kept in mind that there are a lot of X870/X870E motherboards from ASUS and Gigabyte that do support the 320 MHz channel and the important point is that the wireless internet speed may not reach such a high speed, considering this bandwidth isn't available in most parts of the world to the masses.
